Your Educentric Team
Educentric's Improvement Navigators are former superintendents, principals, and district leaders with decades of experience running some of the country's most complex school systems. They don't advise from a distance — they coach from experience, working directly with principals and school teams to produce measurable results.

Dr. Terry Grier
Co-founder and CEO
Dr. Terry Grier is a nationally recognized urban school superintendent and co-founder of Educentric. He served as superintendent for 32 years, leading some of the country's most complex school systems, including his final seven years as superintendent of the Houston Independent School District — at the time, one of the largest districts in the nation. Under his leadership, Houston ISD earned the prestigious Broad Prize in Education for the second time, closed achievement gaps in 20 of its lowest-performing schools, and produced dramatic gains in student outcomes. Dr. Grier was named State Superintendent of the Year in both North Carolina and Texas and received the National Educator of the Year award from the Council of the Great City Schools. During his tenure at HISD, 96 colleagues went on to become superintendents, with 38 from Houston alone. He founded Educentric to bring the leadership and execution framework that produced those results to school districts across the country.

Dr. Reid Whitaker
Co-founder and President of the Board
Dr. Reid Whitaker began his education career with Teach for America as an elementary science teacher and later served as a content specialist and principal in the Houston Independent School District. He went on to serve at Rice University's Center for Education, where he created the STEMscopes science curriculum. He subsequently grew STEMscopes into one of the
nation's leading K-12 science curriculum platforms before its successful acquisition by Accelerated Learning, where he continues to serve as Senior Vice President of Research and Measurement. EdTech Digest named him one of the nation's leading edupreneurs. Dr. Whitaker co-founded Educentric to apply the same entrepreneurial discipline and results-focused thinking that built STEMscopes to the challenge of transforming low-performing schools. He brings to Educentric a rare combination of classroom experience, curriculum expertise, and proven
business leadership in the education sector.
